Charlottesville, VA—Today, on behalf of Potomac Riverkeeper Network, the Southern Environmental Law Center filed an appeal of the permit issued by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to Dominion that would allow the company to pollute Quantico Creek and the Potomac River with more than 150 million gallons of coal ash wastewater contaminated with high levels of toxic metals from the Possum Point Power Station.Read More

Dominion Virginia Power gets permit from theWater Control Board to discharge coal ash wastewater just 60 miles upstream of the Richmond, VA water intake, supplying drinking water to over 214,000 residents. This should make your blood boil! Coal ash wastewater contains trace quantities of heavy metals and other elements of toxins, including lead, mercury, arsenic, boron, selenium, and thallium.
