Fly fishing in the United States originated in the Catskills. Anglers from around the world now trek here to find big, wary, difficult fish to throw tiny dry flies to. It’s a place that is known to be beautiful but also has a reputation to be tough to fish… if your flies don’t have a$$holes and elbows, the fish don’t even look at them.

We will travel to the New York/Pennsylvania border to the upper Delaware River, fishing the branches and the main stem of the river for 2 full guided days and 2 unguided half days, where we’ll be spending our days plying the river to find tough fish that fight hard and aren’t push overs. We begin and end each day at our base camp - the Trout Run Guest House, for breakfast & dinner, and drinks with District Angling staff and a personal chef. We’ll take the time to prepare and learn about the river and techniques, and watch some F3T films to help us socialize and get ready for the long fishing days ahead.

We float with guides for 2 days, enjoying long pools and riffles, throwing dries to beautiful browns and wild rainbows that thrive in the tailwater’s cold environment, eating any multitude of the many species of trout stream insects and forage fish that they feed on. We’ll end each day with dinner at house, and tall tales and camaraderie around the campfire rings at the cabins until we get tired of hearing about Farino’s doodles or exhaustion from the hard days fishing sets in.

The West Branch Angler Resort sits nestled in a 300 acre park-like setting along a 2 mile private stretch of water along the upper Delaware corridor. Upscale cabin accommodations, fantastic scenery, a great restaurant and pub, and well stocked flyshop all make the resort a great place to make your home base when fishing in the Catskills.

Our last day is checkout, and you can fish the property all day if you want, or travel into Roscoe to fish the Beaverkill, to Livingston Manor to fish the Willowemoc or visit the Catskill Fly Fishing Museum, or make the trip back to DC.
