Trout fishing on the East coast can be challenging, and some of the finest rivers lay east of the Mississippi River.  But the West is the most loved destination for trout fisherman from all over the world who want to chase big browns, rainbows, and cutthroat trout that will eat big flies, take you into your backing, and show you why you enjoy fishing so much.  Big water, bigger rods, and big flies create a draw for everyone from the inexperienced angler to the expert.

Enter the Missouri River at Craig, Montana. A tailwater flowing from Holter Lake through to Great Falls, the fishing is nothing short of epic. We have a lodge we use that sleeps 8, with the river running through it (well, the backyard at least… we’re haunted by waters!) and a great group of guides and kitchen staff to make this a highlight destination. We chose a time in the fall when the fish are feeling the effects of the shorter days and longer nights and get on the feed as much as they can. They will take a ripped sculpin imitation just as readily as a dead-drifted zebra midge or a grasshopper pattern splatted into a back eddy. The only difference here - these fish have shoulders and jump and will guarantee to wish you had a better drag on your reel.

Your itinerary is pretty awesome - you’ll be picked up in Bozeman and travel to the Simms factory to see how the greatest waders in the world are made, followed by an awesome lunch provided by The Roost. Afterwards you’ll travel to Craig and check in to the lodge. You can choose to relax or start fishing immediately on the Mo directly behind the house! You’ll commence to 4 days of phenomenal fishing with seasoned guides from Headhunters Fly Shop. Here you’ll find that if you don’t like the weather, then wait 5 minutes! It could be chilly or 70 degrees and sunny, but the fish bite all day.
