Company Statement Regarding COVID-19
The Washington DC metro area encompasses over 1,400 square miles and has the 6th largest population in the United States at over 6.2 million people, which includes one of the most diverse groups of travelers in the world. Due to the increasing health issues, we wanted the public to know what we’re doing here at District Angling to preserve the safety, health, and the well-being of our customers, associates, and community. We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be experiencing surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and are committed to being responsive to the needs of our customers and associates.
Effective Saturday, March 14, 2020, our staff has taken proactive measures to help with the prevention efforts here in the retail store. Shop protocol includes:
Sanitization of all employee and delivery person hands immediately upon entering the shop.
We love you guys, but a simple wave will do. No handshakes, or fist or elbow bumps.
Our shop is now reopened to the public. You can also order from our website or by telephone, either for curbside pickup or delivery.
Thorough washing of hands after contact with customers arriving for curbside pickup.
Sanitization of surface areas with bleach and disinfecting wipes in the shop including all exterior and interior handrails, credit card terminals, countertops, benches, and display cases, bathroom facilities, and all public spaces daily.
We’re also updating shop events to avoid any major health issues:
Based on current CDC recommendations, all shop clinics including seminars, clinics, and other events of 5 or more people will not require mask use, but it is recommended that unvaccinated attendees wear a mask for the safety or our immunocompromised staff and customers.
The F3T Fly Fishing Film Tour events will not require mask use, but it is recommended for unvaccinated individuals for the safety of all attendees.
The Project Healing Waters Fly Tying Marathon at the Museum of the Marine Corps, and the District Angling Donation event here at the shop are temporarily postponed.
Our Anniversary Open House events are postponed.
We understand and appreciate many businesses allowing customers to work remotely as well as schools closing through spring break, and encourage our customers to continue to live normal lives, but take precautions and wash your hands thoroughly. One recommendation you may have heard to practice is Social Distancing. Fishing is social distancing, so take advantage of spring weather and the ability to get away from the crowds and go wet a line somewhere, preferably with your best bud, a spouse, sibling, child, or parent. It will indeed be a bonus for your mental health.
We are also in the process of adding more products to our website, and we encourage you to order online at shop.districtangling.com. In order to service our customers better during this time, we’ve also changed some store policies:
All web orders over $50 receive free ground shipping. Orders will ship within 24 hours of placement.
Orders over $1,000 get a free roll of toilet paper, rare in these parts.
All drinkware, eyewear, and sun protection for the face are not refundable.
Lastly, in order to make up for the short term loss of educational programs, we’ll be e-mailing our customers more often, with useful links to educational and how-to videos, specials, interviews, and our Field Report newsletter. We hope you’ll tune in.
The situation in the United States is evolving quickly, and we will continue to monitor it closely and to follow the guidance of institutions like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). If anything changes further here at District Angling, we will do our best to communicate it to you as quickly as possible.
We hope you, your family, and community remain safe and healthy during this time.
