Shad Night

The January cold has been brutal this year. Think longer days; think springtime. Now is the time to get ready for another great shad run!

NCC-TU Shad Night will return to the virtual world in four weeks. Please plan to join us on Thursday, February 24 at 7:30 for the next best thing to our traditional, in-person, gathering. Like last year, this webinar promises to be screen time well spent.

Our featured guest will take us out of our Potomac comfort zone. Bill Gordon, a geologist based in Pennsylvania near the lower Delaware, will talk about his pursuit of shad up and down the Eastern seaboard. It’s time we appreciate the great range and adaptability of our favorite springtime spawner. Not to mention the adrenaline rush shad bring to fellow anglers from Florida to Maine. Bill is a special case. He's always on the move and has already fished for American shad on the St. Johns river this month!

There will also be fly tying demonstrations from Ryan McCarron of Orvis Tysons and Rich Farino’s team at District Angling. A review of last year’s Potomac run will focus on the best stories from our NCC-TU Shad Reports. All of the participants will be available for questions via the chat box. Full program to follow.

Finally, our popular Silent Auction is making a comeback as a multi-day online event. Here’s your chance to grab a memorable guided fishing trip with a local expert. Details coming soon.

Virtual replaces venue, but it's still enjoyable. We hope you can join us!
