Holiday Event - Iron Fly Competition & Labrador Presentation

  • District Angling 2105 N. Pollard Street Arlington United States (map)

The Holiday Weekend is here and we’re celebrating with an Iron Fly competition and a presentation by John Bunker on fishing for big brook trout in Labrador.

Come by the shop on Saturday December 23rd for a holiday celebration - compete in our first Iron Vise competition, enjoy snacks and beverages, and stay for a presentation from 12:30-1pm about the biggest brook trout you’ll ever see.

Everyone gets a bag with identical materials, and is given 45 minutes to craft the best fly they can. Contestants will be judged on a numbered scale, and winners will receive $100, $50, and $25 District Angling gift cards as prizes.

If participating, tyers should bring their own vise, tools, and threads. All other materials will be provided. Doors open at 10am, competition starts at 10:30am

John Bunker will be in the shop again to talk about fly fishing for brook trout, Atlantic salmon, and arctic char in Labrador and will be giving a presentation on how to find your bigger, hungrier big cousin of our native brook trout here in Virginia.

Snacks, and beverages from First Down Sports Bar served at noon.
